Sharing & Peer Learning in Serious Games
Spread the Word about LEEF and Help Grow a Diverse Community of Innovators and Learning Leaders Working with Serious Games
Why LEEF was created: “Learning about serious games should be hands-on. We wanted to provide a venue where individuals could gain first-hand experience with gaming, simulation and virtual world learning solutions, as well as learn from the project creators what went into producing the solution.” Andy Petroski, LEEF Co-collaborator
Goals for LEEF: “By maintaining a focus on serious games, we can present beginner and advanced-level topics, delve into critical issues and techniques, and fully explore best and emerging practices. I think people have enjoyed LEEF because they are surrounded by others who share their curiosity, and who provide inspiration to push for new approaches.” Charles Palmer, LEEF Co-collaborator

What Others Have Said About LEEF:
“After being in the training and multimedia business for 27 years, I thought I was pretty much on top of things regarding where the business was heading. LEEF offered an outside-the-box experience with leaders in their fields from all over the country. Attending the program energized me to go back to our operation and take a fresh look at everything we were doing and re-engineer our future plans to include some of the ideas we discussed at LEEF.” Jerry Kambic, Operations Manager, Commonwealth Media Services
“LEEF is held on a much more “intimate” level than other forums. Attendees and presenters alike are afforded the opportunity to play the role of user, through various case studies. This is unique because almost every forum or conference related to emerging learning technologies has multiple presenters referring to ‘death by PowerPoint,’ as they happily click through a 75 slide power point presentation. I feel that developers of these technologies are more imaginative that, and LEEF has proven this to be true.” Tracy Beus, Hill Air Force Base
“My colleagues and I thoroughly enjoyed our time spent at LEEF; it was productive, educational and a great networking opportunity. The facility is truly state of the art with regard to parking, accessibility, classrooms and technology. Since returning from LEEF, we have been able to clearly define our requirements and set expectations around capabilities and costs to move forward in the immersive learning environment, and are looking forward to LEEF next year.” John Ghidiu
LEEF was an interactive professional development event that explored the use of games, simulations and virtual worlds for learning. The program showcased how learning and entertainment technologies have converged, and continue to evolve, to produce new, immersive solutions that are redefining the learning experience.
